SLTCFI, Tektone Global and Eco-Trail Society Foundation Hold 1st Graduation Ceremonies for their Trainees

The trainees for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) courses of Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Inc. (SLTCFI) and the trainees for welding and heavy equipment operation of Tektone Global Technologies Foundation, Inc. and Eco-Trail Society Foundation were given due recognition during their graduation last April 18, 2009 at the Aquinas Dome in Legazpi City.

With the theme, “Galing ng Bicolano, Kaagapay sa Pag-Unlad ng Pilipino at ng Buong Mundo”, the ceremony included an estimated 450 trainees who successfully finished their training for Online Web Marketing, Online Copywriting, Web Development Solution, Online Office Suite Legal Transcription, Welding and Heavy Equipment Operation.

Gracing the event as keynote speaker was Albay 1st District Representative, Honorable Edcel C. Lagman. In his speech, Lagman emphasized the mismatch problem between the skills required by both the local and international employers and the skills possessed by applicants. He commended the said foundations in addressing this mismatch issue especially in this time of global economic meltdown.

Legazpi City Mayor Noel E. Rosal in his address also pointed out that IT-enabled services, welding and heavy equipment operation are among the most in demand in the labor market nowadays. He expressed admiration for the people behind the foundations whose collaborative efforts is also instrumental in the augmentation of employment problems in the Region.

It is worth noting that SLTCFI, Tektone Global Technologies Foundation, Inc. and Eco-Trail Society Foundation are considered to be the specialized and experienced institutions in the Province in the field of modern training techniques for IT, welding and heavy equipment operation. More so, the said foundations not only provide various training programs, but also facilitates job placement and even grants automatic employment for their graduates.

The ceremony also includes the awarding of the top performing trainees in their respective courses and the induction of alumni officers.

SLTCFI Batch 2009 Celebrates Academic Success in the 14th Commencement Exercises

Legazpi City – With the theme, “Enhancing Global Competitiveness of Graduates for a Stable Workforce towards a Better Quality of Life and National Progress,” the Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Inc. held its 14^th Commencement Exercises last March 31, 2009 at the Concourse Convention Center, Legazpi City immediately following the Baccalaureate Liturgy held at St. Raphael church.

The auspicious event was attended by an estimated crowd of 600, including graduates’ relatives, distinguished guests and SLTCFI faculty and staff. The heavy rains did not dampen the high spirits of the guests and graduates’ parents as they proudly cheered for the graduating batch of 2009.

There were a total of 242 candidates for graduation; 11 from the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, 5 from the Bachelor of Science in Information Management, 94 from Two-year Computer Programming, 50 from Two-year Computer Hardware Servicing NC II, 56 from Two-year Computer Secretarial, 5 from Two-year Computer-Aided Architectural Drafting Technology, 8 from Two-year Computer Animation and 13 from One-year PC Operations.

The commencement speaker was Mariflor R. Liwanag, TESDA Albay Provincial Director. She shares to the graduating class that in order to attain their fullest potential they must conquer their fears and work hard to reach their goals. She also emphasized the value of continuous learning, citing the IT industry as an example, where one must always be updated because the technology landscape is continuously changing. She further articulated that the continuous search for knowledge and being updated is the key to staying competitive in today’s world.

Also gracing the event as inspirational speakers were Honorable City Mayor Noel E. Rosal, Engineer Edgar B. Quinto, SLTCFI Founder, Benhoor Elyshar, President of Benco Marketing and Management located in California and Sebastian Taheri, President and owner of Silver Image Studio also based in California, USA. The speakers urged the graduates to continue advancing in education and strive to be the best in their chosen field so as to become globally competitive.

Rosemarie Quinto-Rey, President and CEO of SLTCFI together with the officers and members of SLTCFI Board of Trustees presented the diplomas and awards. Zandra V. Balderama from the Bachelor of Science and Computer Science and Rey B. Beria from the Bachelor of Science in Information Management graduated with honors as cum laude.

Thirty non-graduating students were also recognized for their academic achievements while the recipient of the Founder’s scholarship was Irene M. Muyna.

The induction of alumni officers for batch 2009 was also held during the event. The multimedia presentation showing the accomplishments of SLTCFI during the past year and the various school activities that the graduating class actively participated in punctuated the momentous occasion.
